Guideline to Working with Dakelh Elders and Knowledge Holders in Education

NIB Trust Fund has awarded Chuntoh Education Society $145,000 to support the continued, consistent presence of Dakelh Elders and Knowledge Holders as ongoing Partners in Education for Reconciliation within our local schools. Each of our local schools will be supported with honourarium funding for the 2020-2021 school year.

This is our second year of funding with NIB Trust. During the 2019-2020 school year, we introduced Elder Days and Elder-in-Residence programming at four schools. Participant experiences and feedback were incorporated into the recently published "Guideline to Working with Dakelh Elders and Knowledge Holders in Education". While this document is specific to our local Nations and educational institutions, we hope that the format is transferable to other Nations and school districts throughout BC.

Thank you again to NIB Trust Fund for making this document possible and continuing to support community-based and individual steps towards Reconciliation across Canada!
