Koh Learning

In August, Chuntoh Education Society and Fort St. James Secondary School co-hosted a gathering of students, educators and administrators from the Koh-Learning (UNBC/SD91) community. We visited a traditional Pit House, observed eagles hunting for Kokanee at Tsilcoh Falls and enjoyed a gorgeous afternoon on the shores of Tezzeron Lake. Educators shared place-based learning ideas, and explored ways we can plan for and document outdoor learning experiences. Students discussed the impacts outdoor education has had on their connection to place - as well as their future goals. Throughout the day, we discussed ways systems can authentically engage Elders and Knowledge Holders in education. Thank you to ALL the presenters and participants of this event. What a lovely start to the 2020/21 school year!
